Difficulty conceiving

“i have been on birth control pills for about ten years with the exception for the period when i was pregnant with my two children. my son is now 2 and a half, my husband and i have been trying to become pregnant for about six months with no luck. what is the normal amount of time to become pregnant after stopping the pills? with my two children i was pregnant the first month, this is becoming very stressful and disappointing month after month.”

A: It can vary, but generally women begin ovulating normally 1-2 months after stopping oral contraceptives. There may be other factors involved that may be making it more difficult to become pregnant. We recommend you consult with your physician you can give you a thorough exam and help you track your ovulation.
