The Coalition for Family Health, of which The Family Planning Association of Northeast Ohio, Inc. is a member, has announced its support for pending state legislation that aims to prevent unplanned pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases/infections through a comprehensive, common ground approach to a public health crisis that currently accounts for one-half of all Ohio births.  The Ohio Prevention First Act features provisions for high quality, comprehensive sex education; increased, equitable access to contraception and pre-conception services; and the provision of emergency contraception in all hospital emergency rooms.  Visit the recently launched Coalition for Family Health website for detailed information on the bill and its status as well as a number of other resources.  The 33-member Coalition, which is convened by the National Council of Jewish Women, hopes to expand the breadth of its statewide network in the coming months.  If you are interested in working with the Coalition to generate legislative and popular support for—and advocate passage of—the Ohio Prevention First Act within your local community, please contact Joanie O’Brien at 216.325.0923 or jobrien@mrss.com and be sure to identify yourself as a friend of The Family Planning Association of Northeast Ohio, Inc.

 Volunteers Needed!!

·        Do you want to have fun?

·        Do you like working with teenagers?

·        Are you interested in education, nursing, or any other health-related field?

·        Are you available late Monday afternoons (and an occasional Tuesday or Wednesday)?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The Family Planning Association is looking for young adults to help out during our teen clinics.  We are seeking easy-going, friendly individuals who are interested in making our teen clinics a comfortable, inviting place for our clients.  Duties may include helping out with education presentations, assisting with our waiting room computer, and light office duties.  Some background in reproductive health is helpful, but not necessary as we’ll train the right people.  Volunteer as little as a few hours a month.  Volunteers are needed at both the Painesville and Ashtabula office locations.
